It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest.

Chris Sale struck out 12 in 7 2/3 scoreless innings Friday in the White Sox's 3-0 win over the Angels.
Poor C.J. Wilson got matched up with Sale for the second time in six days and took another tough loss. Sale allowed just four hits and struck out 19 while pitching 16 2/3 scoreless innings over the course of the two outings. He's allowed one run in 24 career innings against the Angels.

Chris Sale had an abscessed tooth removed on Monday, but it's not expected to impact his availability for his next scheduled start Friday against the Angels.
Sale admitted that he's feeling it a little, but fortunately he still has multiple days to get well. The 24-year-old southpaw tossed a one-hit shutout Sunday night against the Angels and holds a 2.88 ERA and 49/12 K/BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings over eight starts this season.

Chris Sale threw a complete game one-hitter in Sunday night's win over the Angels.
Sale was perfect through six innings before giving up a single to Mike Trout. It was a dominant performance against a struggling Angels' lineup and his fifth straight quality start. Sale didn't allow any walks and finished with seven strikeouts. He now owns a 2.88 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 49/12 K/BB ratio through 56 1/3 innings this season. Sale will pitch against the Angels again on Friday in his next start.

Gordon Beckham (hand) started at shortstop Monday in his third rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte.
Beckham played shortstop in college and as a prospect, but he has never done so in the majors. Of course, Alexei Ramirez is in the second year of a four-year, $32.5 million contract, so there would have to be an injury or a trade for him to get a look there with the big club. Still, it's an interesting development. Beckham is hitting .462 (6-for-13) with one double and two RBI over three rehab games and should be activated this weekend.

John Danks (shoulder) went 4 2/3 innings Saturday in his third minor league rehab start.
If everything checks out with the left-hander early this week, he should be cleared to join the White Sox starting rotation on Friday night against the Marlins. Danks has been on the shelf all year and makes for a decent waiver stash right now in AL-only fantasy leagues. Since he's coming off shoulder surgery and still rebuilding his arm strength, it might not be wise to trust him right out of the gate in standard mixed formats. Even against Miami.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

White Sox transferred LHP Leyson Septimo from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
