Athletics acquired INF/OF Stephen Vogt from the Rays for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Vogt's biggest asset is his ability to play multiple positions, including catcher, so he should fit in very well as a bench piece in Bob Melvin's offense. He'll still hold little-to-no value in most fantasy leagues however.

Rays designated INF/OF Stephen Vogt for assignment.
Vogt is a career .299/.360/.448 hitter in the minors and can play a variety of positions, so he might draw some interest on waivers.

Rays optioned C Stephen Vogt to Triple-A Durham.
Vogt was one of a host of competitors for the Rays' backup catcher job, but he receives the boot despite batting .296 with a homer this spring. Also able to play first base and the corner outfield spots, he should get a shot with the big club at some point in 2013.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

Hiroyuki Nakajima (hamstring) received a day off from his rehab assignment on Saturday but will play in each of the next three games with Triple-A Sacramento.
Nakajima has appeared in four games thus far with Sacramento, going 3-for-15 (.200) with a double and a pair of RBI. He's expected to need a lengthy rehab assignment before joining the Athletics, and isn't a lock to receive significant playing time once he is activated.

Chris Young (quad) had some cramping in his leg after Thursday's rehab game, but hopes to be activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
Young was originally expected to be activated following Thursday's rehab game, but it appears that the leg cramping set him back a day. It's not expected to be a major setback, so look for him to return to the A's lineup at some point over the weekend.

Josh Reddick admitted Monday that it's possible he'll need surgery on his ailing right wrist.
The good news is that Reddick has no structural damage, and he's already feeling better since being shut down over the last week. However, he'll wait another week before trying to swing a bat, and if he's not able to at that time, surgery might be required. Reddick had an operation on his left wrist after the 2011 season and need two months of recovery time, so if he does get cut open he's likely to be out past the All-Star break.

Brett Anderson was diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture of his right foot and will be shut down for four weeks.
Rough news for Anderson, who just can't seem to stay healthy. The 25-year-old southpaw is set to be reevaluated after four weeks, so his actual return to the Athletics likely won't be until around the early part of July. Dan Straily is filling his spot in the rotation for now, but the A's could turn to Sonny Gray if he continues to struggle.

Rodriguez will miss the entire 2013 season. The 28-year-old had a 5.37 and 78/34 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings last season with the Astros and was acquired in February's Jed Lowrie deal.
