Charlie Leesman has rejected the Rangers' waiver claim and elected to become a free agent.
The Rangers claimed Leesman from the White Sox last Friday, but the 26-year-old left-hander had the option of hitting the open market and decided to try his luck. He posted a cool 2.47 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 135 innings (26 starts) last season at Triple-A and should draw a good amount of interest as a free agent.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rangers have claimed Charlie Leesman off release waivers from the White Sox.
Leesman has five days to accept the claim or reject it and pursue other options. The left-hander was designated for assignment by the White Sox earlier this week.

The White Sox have requested release waivers on left-hander Charlie Leesman.
Leesman was designated for assignment over the weekend in order to make room for the newly-acquired Tyler Greene on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old southpaw owns a 3.37 ERA in the minors and shouldn't have trouble finding a new home.

White Sox designated LHP Charlie Leesman for assignment.
The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Tyler Greene. Leesman doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he's 26 and has a career 3.37 ERA in the minors, so it's possible he'll draw interest on waivers.

Gordon Beckham isn't playing Friday with Triple-A Charlotte due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left hand.
Beckham had surgery in mid-April to remove the hamate bone from his hand, so the White Sox don't want to take any chances. He's expected to be held out of action until next Wednesday at the earliest.

Chris Sale has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Red Sox due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder.
It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
