Astros pitching prospect Mark Appel spanned seven innings Sunday in a win for Double-A Corpus Christi, allowing just four hits and one unearned run.
The seven-inning effort was his longest of the season. It was Appel's first complete game since August 21. The right-hander has gone 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA over his last four starts. Over that span, Appel's ERA has dropped from 5.85 to where it sits now at 4.26. With players like Kyle Schwarber and Byron Buxton making the leap from Double-A to the majors this year, we wouldn't rule out Appel making his big league debut in 2015. Jun 22 - 3:27 PM
