Nate Karns pitched well on Monday, but couldn't make it out of the fifth inning, earning a no-decision as the Rays fell to the Yankees.
Karns had racked up a lot of pitches and appeared to tire towards the end of his outing. He got two quick outs, but walked Steven Drew, allowed an infield single to Didi Gregorius, and walked Jacoby Ellsbury to load the bases before giving way to reliever Brandon Gomes. Gomes allowed one of Karns' runners to score with a walk of his own. Overall, Karns allowed the one run on three hits and two walks while fanning five. Walks continue to be an issue for the right-hander, as he has 16 of them in 28 1/3 innings. Karns will head into a road start against the Orioles with a 4.76 ERA. Apr 27 - 10:20 PM
