Yankees prospect RHP Luis Severino has been placed on the 7-day disabled list for Double-A Trenton with a middle finger injury.
The move is retroactive to May 11. Severino struggled in his outing on Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and in just two innings, but the 21-year-old right-hander has pitched well overall, with a 3.86 ERA and 34/8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 28 innings (six starts). Severino is widely considered to be the Yankees’ top pitching prospects, not to mention one of the better young right-handers in the minor leagues. Severino is likely to crack the major leagues later in the season, so hopefully the finger injury doesn’t cost him much time. May 14 - 12:22 PM
