Pirates prospect SS Cole Tucker went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases on Monday for Low-A West Virginia.
Both of his hits were singles, and he also scored a run and plated another. Tucker, the No. 24 overall pick in last year’s draft, has been hot of late, batting .371/.389/.400 with five steals in the last eight games. The 18-year-old shortstop has held his own through the first 30 games of his full-season debut, batting .279/.308/.336 with five extra-base hits (one home run) and 10 stolen bases. This comes after Tucker posted a .724 OPS with 10 extra-base hits and 13 steals last summer in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. He’s not considered a top-tier shortstop prospect, but Tucker is slowly becoming one of the more intriguing middle infielders in the low minors. May 19 - 1:01 PM
