The Knicks will target a point guard or interior help in June's draft, according to beat writer Jared Zwerling.
This shouldn't surprise anyone who saw the Knicks' serious lack of youth at point guard and in the front court. New York loaded up on veterans like Jason Kidd, Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby prior to the season, but none of them were a factor after February. With Kidd retiring and Pablo Prigioni a free agent, the Knicks would be wise to try to find a future backcourt mate for Iman Shumpert who can learn under Raymond Felton's tutelage. While the Knicks have been linked to Miami PG Shane Larkin, he'll likely be gone by the time New York picks. The Knicks also need someone up front to back up Tyson Chandler and the eternally-injured Amare Stoudemire.

Mike Woodson's contract is reportedly not guaranteed beyond the 2013/14 season, a source told the New York Post.
It's a little early to be talking about Woodson on the hot seat, so we're not going to go there. The source told the New York Post that the final year of Woodson's deal (2014/15) is not guaranteed, but this report appears to be much ado about nothing. Woodson's job is not currently in jeopardy.

Coach Mike Woodson said he wasn't pleased with the Knicks purposefully wearing black to mimic a funeral before Wednesday's Game 5.
Forward Kenyon Martin reportedly told his teammates to wear all black to simulate a funeral for what could have been an elimination game for the Celtics. Of course, Boston stunned New York, won their second straight game in the series and forced Game 6, leaving the Knicks looking just a tad foolish. Woodson said he addressed it with the team told them to leave those kinds of things "outside the game." Game 6 in Boston on Friday should be pretty interesting.

Coach Mike Woodson said he's worried that the Knicks might not make it back to New York in time for Sunday's 1 p.m. ET game against the Clippers.
Due to the blizzard that has captivated the Northeast, the Knicks will not fly home following Friday night's game in Minnesota. If they can't get a flight back on Saturday morning, they'll stay in town and hold a practice. However, the Sunday game will be nationally televised on ABC and the snow is expected to slow down by Saturday night. We'd be surprised if the NBA let the game get postponed.

J.R. Smith will decline his $2.9 million player option for 2013-14, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
One day after the Knicks' season ended, Smith said that he wanted to "retire as a Knick." New York could sign him for four years at $4.9 million per season, using their Early Bird rights, and an anonymous source told ESPN that it's "likely" J.R. will stay with the Knicks. He was awful in the playoffs but finished with regular season averages of 18.1 points, 1.9 threes, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals, en route to Sixth Man of the Year honors.

The Knicks have not updated the status of Carmelo Anthony (shoulder) since revealing he had a small tear in his labrum.
The initial plan was to see if the injury would heal without surgery and the team would reevaluate him in three weeks, but it's been nearly four weeks and we still haven't heard if Anthony will need surgery. It could be seen as a positive sign, but given the Knicks history of how they disclose injuries, we can't say for certain. Surgery could sideline Anthony up to three months if he goes under the knife.
