Kentucky coach John Calipari wants the Cavs to draft former Wildcat Nerlens Noel with the top pick because "they haven't made mistakes."
Coach Cal was referring to Cleveland's drafting history under GM Chris Grant, which includes Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson, Tyler Zeller and Dion Waiters. Irving has developed into one of the point guards in the league while Thompson made major steps in his second season. Waiters and Zeller each showed flashes as rookies, although Waiters' ceiling is probably higher. Noel is rehabbing a torn ACL but is still projected to go in the top two in an overall weak draft. Although he lacks much offensive polish, Noel's defensive game would pair nicely with Thompson and Zeller and make the Cavs three deep at the four/five positions. Kansas SG Ben McLemore is another option if Cleveland keeps the top pick.

Kentucky C Nerlens Noel (knee) weighed in at just 206 pounds at the NBA's Combine Thursday.
Noel was 6-foot-11 1/2 in his shoes, a full inch taller than last year's No. 1 pick, Anthony Davis. The difference is that "The Brow" was 222 pounds -- and that was still way too thin to handle what goes on in the NBA's paint. Noel might have the most upside in the draft, but he's coming off an ACL tear, is extremely primitive offensively and badly needs to gain weight.

Nerlens Noel (knee surgery) expects to be "ready to go" by Christmas.
It's another reminder that Noel will not be ready for opening night and any team that drafts him will have to wait for him to play. If he did debut on Christmas day, it would mean Noel would miss approximately the first seven to eight weeks of his rookie season, so that's something fantasy owners will have to consider on draft day.

The Charlotte Observer believes the Bobcats could consider Nerlens Noel, Ben McLemore, Otto Porter, Trey Burke, Anthony Bennett, Alex Len and/or Cody Zeller with their first-round pick.
Clearly there is no consensus on which prospect is the best fit for the Bobcats, and Charlotte will have a better idea of which prospects may be attainable after next week's draft lottery. The names listed are not surprising and the Bobcats desperately need talent of any kind on the roster.
