Metta World Peace said he "definitely" thinks he'll be a Laker next season.
World Peace has a player option for a little over $7.7 million next season and we'd be shocked if he didn't exercise it. However, there's a lot of talk about the Lakers using their amnesty exemption on World Peace and buying him out before attempting to re-sign Dwight Howard. World Peace has a bounce-back season in 2012-13, averaging 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 3-pointers and 1.5 assists in 33 minutes per game. If the Lakers do cut bait, we imagine he'll lock on somewhere.

Metta World Peace (knee) will not play against the Spurs on Sunday in Game 4.
Earl Clark is going to get the start and the Lakers are basically rolling with a D-League team in the playoffs. Antawn Jamison will be called upon for some scoring boost, but the Spurs shouldn't have any problem closing out this series at Staples Center.

Metta World Peace said that he's doubtful for Sunday's Game 4 vs. the Spurs.
"I wasn’t effective," World Peace said. "There's no sense to stay in if we have guys who can win. We’ll win Sunday." He might want to talk to his psychiatrist after that quote. Kidding aside, the Lakers have been dealing the injury bug about as bad as any team in recent memory and they're going to be in deep, deep trouble. Antawn Jamison will likely get more time at small forward, but it's unlikely to make a difference for the decimated Lakers.

Mark Medina on Twitter
Metta World Peace is dealing with a Baker's Cyst in his knee, and he had it drained in advance of Friday's Game 3 vs. the Spurs.
World Peace tweeted the photo and was not listed on the Lakers injury report, so we expect him to play in Game 3, but it's another indication that he's not anywhere close to 100 percent after returning extremely early from knee surgery. A Baker's Cyst is a term for swelling behind the knee due to an irregular buildup of fluid, a possible side effect after World Peace returned from surgery far earlier than anticipated.

Steve Nash
Sidelined
Steve Nash says he doesn't think his hip, back and hamstring issues will linger and he expects to be 100 percent by training camp.
Nash, whose year began with a fractured left fibula, got old in a hurry this season. In total, Nash missed 32 regular-season games and two of the Lakers' four postseason games due to a multitude of injuries. When he was healthy, Nash played off the ball more often than ever in his career as the Lakers played Kobe Bryant at point guard. As a result, Nash's fantasy value dipped pretty low and it's hard to judge his value for next season until we see how the Lakers' offseason shakes out and how the 39-year old heals.

Steve Blake
Sidelined
Steve Blake (hamstring) will be out indefinitely for the Lakers.
He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring and being out indefinitely suggests there could be some degree of tearing in the muscle. Blake has been useful for the Lakers and in April he averaged 39.3 minutes, 12.6 points and 5.3 assists, so they have a massive hole to fill. The Lakers are also expected to be without Jodie Meeks and Steve Nash, so this year's D-League MVP, Andrew Goudelock, and Darius Morris will be picking up plenty minutes.

Kobe Bryant
Sidelined
The Cavs have asked and received permission to interview Phil Handy, the current player development coach for the Lakers.
Cleveland is putting a renewed focus on improving on the defensive end of the floor as well as developing their youngsters the right way, so this is a logical next step after the hiring of Mike Brown. Brown is also familiar with Handy from their days together with the Lakers since Brown is the one who hired him, so Handy could very well be hired by the Cavs.

Jodie Meeks
Sidelined
Jodie Meeks says his ankle should be OK in a short time.
Meeks suffered a partial ligament tear in his ankle and only played in Game 1 of the Lakers' opening-round series loss. Meeks said Monday he still has trouble getting a shoe on but with all summer to rest, Meeks should be fine by training camp.

Metta World Peace
Sidelined

Antawn Jamison
Sidelined
Antawn Jamison finally had his exit interview with GM Mitch Kupchak on Thursday, a source told ESPN Los Angeles.
No matter how it's spun publicly, Jamison won't be back with the Lakers next season. He clashed with Mike D'Antoni, never lived up to the hype and averaged a measly 9.4 points.

Pau Gasol
Sidelined
Pau Gasol (knees) confirmed he won't play for Spain in this summer's Eurobasket.
Gasol underwent a procedure to clean out his knees on May 9 and won't resume basketball activities for 12 weeks. His priority is to be healthy for the 2013/14 NBA season, not international competition. Gasol will turn 33 years old in July and is becoming an increasingly large medical risk for fantasy owners.
