After 13 seasons with the Pacers, Jeff Foster has announced his retirement due to chronic back injuries.
Foster was classy off the court and gritty on the court, and his absence will be keenly felt in Indiana. "I’ve given my all to the Pacers and the community the last 13 years," he said in a statement. "I want to thank the Simon family and the Pacers’ organization for 13 memorable years." Right back at you, Jeff.

Foster will be reevaluated after having a shot in his back, but the Pacers aren't counting on him to return any time soon.

Foster needed another procedure on his troublesome back. The 35-year-old rebounder has appeared in just 11 games this season.

Jeff Foster's lower back forced him to miss Saturday's game.
The Pacers hadn't played in four days so this wasn't simply a conditioning issue -- Foster's chronic back pain isn't going away this season. If he can get healthy enough to grind out a small role in the playoffs (hacking Dwight Howard, perhaps?), his season will have been a success.

Danny Granger (knee surgery) said he'll "hopefully" be ready for training camp.
Granger's knee injury was not cut-and-dry. He didn't realize there was a problem until training camp, tried to come back unsuccessfully and ended up playing in just five games. Now that he's had surgery, the situation is even more hairy. Once a fantasy darling thanks to his versatile skill set, Granger will come with a ton of red flags in 2013-14 fantasy drafts. He turned 30 years old on Saturday.

David West shot 11-of-17 from the field for 26 points with five boards and one assist in 41 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday.
He had a big game and did some damage with seven of his field goals coming from within the paint. The Pacers had the Heat right where they wanted them in the first half with a five-point lead and a slower pace, but Miami changed the tempo in the second half. Lance Stephenson was also effective on the glass with his 12 boards to go with seven points, three assists and three steals, but his shot selection was sub-par, shooting 2-of-10 from the field.

Jeff Pendergraph (new baby) missed Tuesday's practice.
Pendergraph also missed Monday's practice, and he remains in the hospital with his wife. The Pacers are "hopeful" he'll re-join the team on Wednesday in advance of Game 1 vs. Miami, but he's considered questionable at the moment.
