Lions backup QB Shaun Hill is recovering from a minor offseason foot surgery.
Hill had surgery to repair a "nagging" injury. He expects to participate in some portions of OTAs and should be 100 percent by training camp. Hill, now 33 years old, is entering a contract season. As Matthew Stafford stayed healthy in 2012, Hill came off the bench for just one appearance, completing 10-of-13 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in a September loss to Tennessee.

Shaun Hill is fully expected to be Matthew Stafford's backup once again this season.
Stafford has played in all 16 games in each of the last two seasons. But when Hill started 10 times in 2010, he averaged 259.8 yards per game and threw 16 touchdowns. He's well worth the $2.4M in base salary the Lions will pay him in the final year of his contract.

Hill proved he's one of the better backups around Sunday when he went 10-of-13 for 172 yards with two touchdowns in relief of Matthew Stafford (leg). As we wait for the results of Stafford's MRI, Hill is a must-add for owners. He's been in the offense for three years, has starting experience and the Lions will stick to their pass-first scheme under Hill.

Lions re-signed QB Shaun Hill to a two-year contract.
Hill visited with the Rams on Thursday, but ultimately decided to return as Matthew Stafford's backup for the third consecutive season. Financial terms are not immediately available. Hill is unlikely to match the $3.5 million Jason Campbell received from Chicago.

Ryan Broyles (ACL surgery) fully expects to be ready for Week 1.
"I’m out there doing full practices right now so in a couple months I feel like I’ll be pretty good," Broyles said after minicamp. Broyles added he's going "full blast in the weight room." It would be a Peterson-esque recovery were Broyles to be ready for the regular season, but there's no reason to doubt him at the moment.

Lions K David Akers (groin surgery) hasn't been doing much kicking at OTAs and is not at 100 percent.
Akers had groin surgery after the Super Bowl and still hasn't recovered. The kicker said pushing himself following double-hernia surgery prior to last season caused him to aggravate the injury, which he cites as the reason for his woeful 2012. He's taking it slowly in an effort to avoid a repeat of last year's debacle.
