Pro Football Weekly "hears" that Matt Schaub may have played with an undisclosed injury in 2012.
Schaub never appeared on the injury report, but it's perhaps an explanation for his epic collapse down the stretch, as he threw for just four touchdowns over his final six games and was noticeably ineffective in the Divisional Round loss to the Patriots. Schaub is due $7.25 million and will be back under center with the Texans. None of his base salaries are guaranteed beyond 2013.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak gave Matt Schaub a vote of confidence at Monday's season-ending press conference.
"I believe in Matt," Kubiak said. "He's the quarterback of our football team. I've got no doubt about him." Schaub's year-end 90.7 QB rating, 64.3 completion percentage and 7.4 YPA were perfectly fine, but he threw for just four touchdowns over his final six games, and was embarrassingly ineffective in Sunday's Divisional Round loss. Never more than a glorified game-manager to begin with, Schaub can barely even be considered a top-16 quarterback heading into his age-32 offseason. Due a guaranteed $7.25 million next season, there's no doubt Schaub will be back under center for the Texans, but an even bigger burden figures to be placed on the running game's shoulders.

Matt Schaub completed 34-of-51 passes for 343 yards, two touchdowns, and one interceptions in Sunday's Divisional round loss at New England.
The boxscore couldn't be more misleading. Hankering for a rematch after the debacle at Foxborough six weeks ago, Schaub fell flat on his face for three quarters. Too often throwing short of the sticks or out of bounds, a hesitant Schaub struggled to pick up third downs or move the offense consistently. Not until the Patriots went into prevent mode up 38-13 in the fourth quarter did Schaub finally find the end zone, tossing just his fifth and sixth touchdowns of the past eight games. He clearly regressed down the stretch, showing that he can't stand toe-to-toe with the game's best signal-callers.

Matt Schaub has managed a 7.15 yards-per-attempt average and 1:4 TD-to-INT ratio since the Texans' Week 14 loss to the Patriots.
Houston was dismantled 42-14 on the Week 14 Monday nighter, and Schaub hasn't been the same in the five games since. His TD-to-INT ratio before Week 14 was 21:9 over the first 12 games of the season. Sidelined
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Texans expect WR DeVier Posey (Achilles) to begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.
It means Posey will miss at least the first six games. It was almost certainly a factor in the Texans taking Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins with the No. 27 pick, though they had a major need at wideout regardless of Posey's health. At this stage, Posey is little more than Dynasty league sleeper for fantasy purposes.
