New coach Bruce Arians has done away with organized stretching at Cardinals practices.
We liked the Arians hire for Arizona, but hopefully this isn't his primary innovation over former coach Ken Whisenhunt. "I know this, if a guy starts chasing you with a gun, you’re not going to stretch," Arians said. "It doesn’t take long to get warmed up." Players are expected to stretch on their own, and "be ready when the horn blows to start the workout." If the Cards suffer a rash of early-season muscle pulls, we'll know why.

Larry Fitzgerald is learning three receiver positions this offseason.
In Ken Whisenhunt's offense, Fitz exclusively played the "X" spot. New coach Bruce Arians is giving him time at "Z" and "F" as well. It's all part of the Cardinals' plan to reestablish Fitzgerald as an offensive centerpiece after last year's maddening 71/798/4 line. Arians executed a similar plan with a 34-year-old Reggie Wayne last season, leading to a 106/1355/5 campaign. With Carson Palmer upgrading quarterback, Fitzgerald's arrow is pointing straight up.

Larry Fitzgerald has spent time in the slot in Cardinals OTAs.
It's part of new coach Bruce Arians' pledge to move Fitzgerald all over the field in an effort to get him more open looks. Former coach Ken Whisenhunt flipped Fitz from side-to-side last season, but rarely used him in the slot. Arians followed a similar blueprint as he helped coax a bounce-back campaign out of Reggie Wayne in 2012. Moving Fitzgerald around should certainly help, but Carson Palmer's play will be by far the most important factor of a potential turnaround. We like Fitz's chances of getting back on track.

The 2012 Arizona Cardinals managed just nine passing plays of 30 or more yards.
Rookie Michael Floyd led the team in yards per reception with a paltry 12.5 average, while Larry Fitzgerald averaged 11.2 and Andre Roberts managed 11.9. Carson Palmer probably isn't going to Pro Bowls in Arizona, but combined with aggressive and pass-happy coach Bruce Arians, should have little trouble increasing the team's downfield passing efficiency considering the depths reached with John Skelton, Ryan Lindley, and Kevin Kolb at the helm.

Cardinals sixth-round WR Ryan Swope (concussion symptoms) has still been unable to practice.
Swope might have been a Day 2 draft pick if he hadn't sustained "at least" four concussions while at Texas A&M. His inability to even suit up for these non-padded, non-contact practices is disconcerting. The Cardinals may have to stash Swope on injured reserve this season, giving him time to get full clearance from the medical staff. The college football season ended six months ago.

Cardinals TE Jeff King is recovering from knee surgery, but could be ready to resume practicing by early June.
The blocking tight end is sitting out OTAs, but sounds like he'll be ready for training camp. He's likely recovering from a scope. A seven-year veteran, King graded out as the third-worst tight end in the league in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season.
