2/22/2011: Signed a four-year, $43 million contract. The deal contains $15 million guaranteed, including a $5 million first-year bonus, all of Bailey's first-year salary, and $4 million of his second-year salary. An additional $7 million is guaranteed for injury only. Bailey is eligible for annual $500,000 workout bonuses. Another $4 million is available through Pro Bowl incentives. 2013: $9.5 million (+ $1.25 million roster bonus due 3/15), 2014: $9 million, 2015: Free Agent

The Broncos reportedly "had an eye" on selecting the heir apparent to Champ Bailey in the draft.
Denver was hoping to land Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes at No. 28 overall, but the Vikings snatched him up at No. 25. So the Broncos settled for DT Sylvester Williams and then used a third-round pick on South Florida CB Kayvon Webster. Bailey, who will be 35 in June, is locked in as the starting left corner for at least another year. The eventual move to safety will have to wait.

Champ Bailey said he's not ready to move to safety just yet.
There won't be a battle within the organization because VP John Elway and coach John Fox have already gone on the record saying Bailey will stick at corner. That will leave Chris Harris in the slot, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie at right corner and Rahim Moore/Mike Adams at the safety spots. At age 34 last season, Bailey graded out as a top-10 overall corner according to Pro Football Focus. He did get lit on fire by Torrey Smith in the Divisional Round loss to the Ravens.

The Broncos recently paid LCB Champ Bailey a $1.25 million roster bonus.
The bonus payment ensures Bailey will be back with the Broncos in 2013, despite early-offseason speculation he might be a cap casualty. Bailey was beaten deep repeatedly by Ravens vertical stretcher Torrey Smith in the playoffs, but had another All Pro-caliber regular season. Turning 35 in June, Bailey should have at least one strong year left as a bump-and-run cover corner.

Executive VP John Elway says the Broncos will not be moving Champ Bailey from cornerback to safety.
"I don't think that's gonna happen," Elway said. "The plan right now is to leave Champ at corner. We haven't had any discussions." Even at 34 years old, Bailey was a top corner in 2012. A position switch down the road is certainly a possibility, though.

Updating a previous item, Knowshon Moreno (knee surgery) has not been medically cleared for Broncos OTAs.
With Willis McGahee a no-show and Moreno still hobbled, second-round pick Montee Ball will soak up first-team reps during the Organized Team Activities. Moreno is at Denver's Dove Valley facility, but he's not practicing. He's likely to be healed by training camp, but projects as a third-stringer this year.
