Michael Vick says new Eagles coach Chip Kelly "taught" him how to properly hold the football while running.
The 10-year veteran was apparently being serious. "The other day, I broke out in the pocket, and the first thing Chip told me was to tuck the football," Vick said. "So I showed him how I was running with it, and he looked at it and he knocked the ball right out of my hands. And he was like, ‘Hold it like this.’ And what he told me felt comfortable. I had a tighter grip on the football. That should secure that problem as long as I work on it." It's beyond belief that Vick is implying that he not only didn't know how to properly hold the football, but had never been taught by Dan Reeves, Jim Mora Jr. or Andy Reid, but here we are. Vick has lost 12 fumbles over his past 35 games, which is far too many.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Michael Vick is "noticeably bigger" and "enthused about the offense" this spring.
Vick is presumably "enthused" about Chip Kelly's offense because there will be more designed runs than there were under Andy Reid last season. Increased bulk and enthusiasm aside, Vick's $3.5 million signing bonus is the main reason he's the heavy favorite to be under center come Week 1.

Michael Vick said he didn't run as much last season due to coaching philosophy.
The Andy Reid regime didn't want Vick to get hurt, so they called few designed runs and encouraged him to stay in the pocket. The problem is that Vick is a below-average thrower. New coach Chip Kelly promises to use Vick's best asset, his legs, far more often. Assuming he holds onto the starting job, Vick won't have trouble eclipsing last year's averages of 6.2 rushes for 33.2 yards per game.

Michael Vick took the first snaps of Eagles OTAs on Monday.
There will be great effort to turn the Eagles' quarterback "competition" into a storyline this summer, but barring an epic face-plant from Vick — who took home a $3.5 million signing bonus in February — he'll get the call come Week 1. How Vick adjusts to the read option will be of greater intrigue than how Nick Foles and Matt Barkley fare behind him.
