Ed Reed (hip surgery) doesn't expect to have a good sense of where he's at in his rehab before training camp.
"It’s going well right now," Reed said. "There’s really no timeline. We’re just gonna keep on grinding and keep on working and shoot for September." Reed again termed the surgery as "minor," and speculated he may have suffered the injury on Tom Brady's infamous kick in the AFC Championship Game. Reed will almost certainly begin camp on the active/PUP list, and will see few, if any, snaps in the preseason.

Ed Reed (hip surgery) admits he might not be ready for Week 1.
Reed's injury hoodwinks keep getting worse for the Texans. "I plan on being back for Week 1," Reed said Wednesday. "But as you’ve known me for the longest time, I’m going to be smart about my injuries and make sure I’m there for the later part of the season when the team really needs me." Reed has gone from being ready for the start of camp, to potentially returning "midway through it" to not a guarantee for Week 1. Reed could still easily end up being ready for Week 1, but it's safe to say he would have never gotten his three-year, $15 million deal had the Texans known the true extent of his injury.

Ed Reed (hip surgery) is expected to join the Texans just before mandatory minicamp.
Reed will not practice with the team at minicamp, and he is still expected to be out until training camp. He'll just be back so that the team can keep a closer eye on his recovery. Reed is currently rehabbing in Atlanta.

The Houston Chronicle confirms the Texans expect Ed Reed (hip surgery) back for the beginning of training camp or "midway through it."
Owner Bob McNair first let slip that Reed might not be ready for the beginning of camp after coach Gary Kubiak had previously insisted he would. Things have a history of not quite going to plan with Reed and his injuries, so we'd be far from surprised if he misses a sizable chunk of his first Texans camp. Going on 35, there's a chance Reed is damaged goods.

Arian Foster (calf) says he'll "more than likely" be ready for training camp.
It's notable because Foster is suggesting there's a chance he
won't
be ready for camp, even if it's a slight one. It was widely assumed when Foster went down in late May that he'd be 100 percent for camp, which is still over a month away. Foster has spent time in a hyperbaric chamber in an attempt to speed his recovery. It sounds like he would have missed multiple games were it the regular season. Foster has missed just three contests since 2010, but his increasing propensity for leg ailments is a concern going into his age-27 campaign.

Posey is rehabbing on the side field just five months after tearing his Achilles' in the Divisional Round. He's still a good bet to begin the year on the PUP list, but it's clear Posey will get on the field at some point in 2013.
