Former Cowboys and Jets QB Quincy Carter was cut by the Abilene Ruff Riders Saturday after he failed to show up for a game.
If Carter hadn't hit rock bottom yet, he has now. He reportedly called the Ruff Riders four hours before Saturday's game to tell them he wouldn't be playing. Drug-related arrests and poor play aside, getting dropped by an Indoor Football League team is a new low.

According to the Dallas Morning News, former NFL quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested Sunday night for violating his probation.
It's his second arrest of 2009. Carter was also detained and charged in February for possession of marijuana and a DWI. He is currently playing for the Abilene Ruff Riders of the Intense Football League. It's all very ironic.

Former Cowboys and Jets QB Quincy Carter was arrested early Friday for drunken driving and marijuana possession.
Miami's flirtation with Carter last July seemed laughable at the time. It's well in the rear view now. Carter, 31, blew a 0.14 in Texas, where the legal limit is 0.08. He's been arrested three times for marijuana since 2006.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano hinted that the team will not be adding free agent Quincy Carter to its roster at this time.
Sparano would only say that Carter "threw the ball well" during his Thursday tryout. Carter tried to compare his situation of getting few chances in the NFL to Ricky Williams', but the reality is that Williams was/is a good player and Carter never was. He could barely even make it in the Arena ranks.

Santonio Holmes (foot) is not participating in voluntary workouts, as expected.
Holmes has been at Ohio State during the first set of Jets minicamps, taking classes and rehabbing his Lisfranc fracture. He admitted he couldn't play if there was a game this week, and may not even be a full go at training camp. Even if Holmes does get back to 100 percent, he should not be considered a starter in fantasy circles. He has recorded one 100-yard day in his last 20 games.

Jets WR Stephen Hill admits he didn't "understand the whole football concept" as a rookie.
That could be a problem. Hill also admits he was bothered by the intense media scrutiny. "We’re always on ESPN for something, and it was just a lot," Hill said. "It put pressure on learning, and then having to explain if I messed up, so that’s where most of the pressure was. ... It probably did throw me off during games, you’re just out there running." Hill has been put on notice by coach Rex Ryan, but WRs coach Sanjay Lal believes he could have a big year: "He can be whoever he wants to be." A large part of Hill's progress will depend on who's under center.
