Raiders agreed to terms with S Usama Young, formerly of the Browns.
The former Brown and Saint is reuniting with coach Dennis Allen, who served as his DBs coach in New Orleans from 2008-10. Young started 11 games for the Browns last season. Young is best suited for a reserve role, but will likely start opposite Tyvon Branch. He notched 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions in 2012, so he may at least provide some big-play ability.

Young, 27, started 11 games at free safety for the Browns last season. He registered 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and three interceptions while battling a concussion and knee injury. Young is best suited as a reserve and would serve as depth at safety while contributing on special teams.

Browns released S Usama Young.
Recovering from thumb surgery, Young was going into the final year of his contract. Young stuffed the stat-sheet in 2012, tallying 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions, but also dealt with a concussion and knee injury. A replacement-level talent, Young failed to win a starting job out of camp. Going on 28, Young should draw interest as a third safety.

Browns placed FS Usama Young on injured reserve, ending his season.
Young has a thumb injury that will likely require surgery. He started 11 games this year, compiling 53 tackles and setting career-highs in sacks (1.5) and interceptions (3). He'll likely be back as a starter next to T.J. Ward in 2013, the final year of his contract.

Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (Lisfranc surgery) says his foot is 100 percent healed.
Ford suffered Lisfranc injuries in each of the past two seasons, but finally appears to be 100 percent. The explosive receiver has a career 17.0 YPR average, and anticipates being used on returns this season in addition to being one of the team's top pass catchers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, it will be important for Ford to show he can remain healthy.

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.
