Panthers RE Charles Johnson left Sunday's Week 11 game against the Bucs in the first quarter with an undisclosed injury, but returned for the second half.
Johnson collided with fellow DE Greg Hardy in the backfield and helped off the field. It had the look of a head injury. Johnson, who came into this game with 8.5 sacks on the season, was taken to the locker room for evaluation. He apparently passed all his concussion tests.

Charles Johnson set a Panthers record with 3.5 sacks in Sunday's Week 4 loss to the Falcons.
Johnson had been a non-factor with zero sacks and eight tackles in the first three weeks. On Sunday, he busted out with eight tackles and a pass deflection to go with his record-setting sacks. The Panthers' Swiss cheese secondary still gave up 369 yards and three touchdowns to Matt Ryan.

Panthers RE Charles Johnson admits his surgically repaired knee is still not 100 percent.
Although the date of the procedure was never revealed, GM Marty Hurney stressed in May that it was a "very minor" arthroscopic surgery. It's a bit of a concern that Johnson isn't fully recovered, as his timetable was expected to have him ready for camp. On a positive note, Johnson says his balky back is much better.

Johnson was held out of minicamp as a precaution, but hasn't suffered any setbacks in his recovery from "very minor" surgery. Johnson has missed just one game with injury the past two seasons.

GM Dave Gettleman admitted that he doesn't know if Jonathan Stewart (ankles) will be ready for training camp.
"We'll see. Time will tell," Gettleman said. Stewart is coming off surgery on both of his ankles and did not participate in any of the offseason program. DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert split the first-team reps. If Stewart can't participate fully in camp, the likelihood of a full-blown committee to start the regular season will increase. The Carolina backfield is as cloudy as ever.

Pilares went down during Sunday's win over the Redskins and will need surgery. His second NFL season ends with two catches for 42 yards and nine kickoff returns for 216 yards. Joe Adams figures to carry the load in the return game going forward.

An undrafted free agent and former college basketball player, Williams was more of a practice-squad than 53-man roster candidate to begin with. The knee scope will further decrease Williams' odds of landing a job behind Greg Olsen.
