Center Stefen Wisniewski expects Darren McFadden to "thrive" in the Raiders' new running scheme.
Instead of running laterally and then making a cut, McFadden is now being asked to get his shoulders square and go. "It's a downhill offense," McFadden said at last week's first minicamp under new OC Greg Olson. "That's one of the things I like about it. I'm the type of guy I like to get going downhill, so I'm looking forward to it." McFadden is a virtual lock to get back over 4.0 yards per carry after recording a woeful 3.27 mark in that category last year.

Darren McFadden said he and the Raiders have not talked about a contract extension.
"We haven't talked about anything," McFadden said. "I'm a Raider right now and I'm playing football and preparing for the season. That's all I can do." McFadden is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he's currently the team's highest-paid player at $5.8 million. There have been whispers the Raiders could trade the 25-year-old, but nothing concrete. Oakland doesn't have a viable No. 2.

Darren McFadden says he is 100 percent healthy and happy about the Raiders' new offense.
McFadden missed four games with a high-ankle sprain in a disaster of a 2012 season in ex-OC Greg Knapp's zone-blocking scheme. "I am the type of guy who likes to go downhill, make a cut and go; that's my thing," he said. "We'll mix it up like we used to, and get some zones in there, but for the most part, I will be keeping my shoulders toward the line of scrimmage." The 25-year-old is entering a contract year, and GM Reggie McKenzie is open to extension talks.

Coach Dennis Allen confirmed that the Raiders will build their rushing offense around Darren McFadden.
After wasting a year trying to force McFadden into former OC Greg Knapp's zone scheme, Allen has taken control now. "(McFadden's) most effective years have been in a downhill, power scheme," Allen said. "That's why Greg Olson and Tony Sparano are here." With Olson calling plays and Sparano coaching the line, McFadden won't have any schematic excuses this year. Entering a contract year, there's plenty of bounce-back appeal here.

Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (Lisfranc surgery) says his foot is 100 percent healed.
Ford suffered Lisfranc injuries in each of the past two seasons, but finally appears to be 100 percent. The explosive receiver has a career 17.0 YPR average, and anticipates being used on returns this season in addition to being one of the team's top pass catchers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, it will be important for Ford to show he can remain healthy.

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.
