Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are splitting reps at Jaguars OTAs.
"We're rotating by period," coach Gus Bradley said. "There's a lot of competition and they're battling it. Everything we do we're trying to create some sort of competition for our team. Hopefully as OTAs go on, we get more and more of those situations to evaluate them." Bradley is bringing the Seahawks' mantra of competition to Jacksonville. Russell Wilson didn't win the starting gig until August 26 of last season.

Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch confirmed Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert are currently on equal footing in Jacksonville's QB competition.
It's an obvious indictment of former top-ten pick Gabbert, who is not viewed as superior to journeyman Henne in the Jaguars' eyes. "We have two guys competing as hard as they possibly can to put themselves in position to be the starting quarterback," said Fisch, adding that "there is no favorite" to start Week 1.

Chad Henne believes he has a legitimate chance to win the Jaguars' quarterback competition.
"I’m still young," Henne said. "I’m only 27 years old in my sixth season. Aaron Rodgers started when he was five years in. I’m only a year behind right now. I’m a competitor." Blaine Gabbert is the favorite of players currently on the roster, but there's increasing smoke the Jags will take a QB at No. 2 overall. Henne would be a candidate for release/trade in that scenario.

Chad Henne completed 25-of-41 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions as the Jaguars were routed by the Titans 38-20 in Week 17.
If Henne was hoping the Jaguars would cut him in the offseason -- he's due a non-guaranteed base salary in excess of $2.6 million -- this was the performance he needed. Two of the interceptions were returned for pick sixes. Henne finishes the season having completed 166-of-308 passes (53.4 percent) for 2,084 yards (6.77 YPA), 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions across ten appearances with six starts. If the Jaguars have designs on turning their won-loss record around in 2013, Henne will not be under consideration to start.

Undrafted Jaguars QB Jordan Rodgers will be sidelined until training camp after undergoing sports-hernia surgery.
Aaron's younger brother, Rodgers is competing with fellow undrafted QB Matt Scott for No. 3 duties. This gives the more-talented Scott another leg up in a competition the Jaguars would likely prefer him to win.

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) said his goal is to resume full-scale workouts in the month ahead of training camp.
Jones-Drew didn't practice with the Jags during Monday's OTAs. Instead, he ran 30-yard dashes at three-quarters speed. "Lately, it's been one day on, a day off, two days on, a day off — it's part of the process," he said. "I'm closer than I think. I just want to take my time and make sure we do it the right way." Rehab from Lisfranc surgery is nothing to be brushed off lightly. We'll be watching MJD's progress closely as he enters a contract year.

Coach Gus Bradley said he's giving suspended WR Justin Blackmon a clean slate.
Blackmon has two DUI arrests and a four-game substance-abuse violation on his resume since 2010. But none of that occurred while Bradley was in contact with the 2012 No. 5 overall pick. The pair is having regular conversations as Blackmon tries to stabilize his life and career. "He's never done anything wrong with me. It'd be different if I was talking to him and I didn't feel like we were connecting at all. I do feel a connection," Bradley said.

During his first official practice with the Jaguars, Brackett sustained a serious knee injury. The pass-catching tight end will need to regain full speed and burst before he can hope for a 2013 roster spot. The Jags re-signed Colin Cloherty to take Brackett's roster spot.
