The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins made a "serious run" at RT Gosder Cherilus before he signed with the Colts.
Cherilus had a Miami visit scheduled before inking with Indy on the first day of free agency. It's little more than an anecdote at this stage, but further indication Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland was jumping from plan to plan to fortify his line before finally signing Tyson Clabo. It's fair to wonder if Cherilus would be a Dolphin had they not been tied up in the Jake Long negotiations early in free agency.

Colts agreed to terms with OT Gosder Cherilus, formerly of the Lions, on a five-year, $34 million contract.
This is presumably one of the "big announcements" owner Jim Irsay teased on Twitter. Cherilus was stout on the right side for the Lions last season, but is recovering from another knee operation. He's missed just four games in five years, however, and is a strong addition for the Colts' porous line provided he's healthy. This shouldn't be the last move the Colts make with the intention of keeping Andrew Luck upright more often in 2013.

ESPN NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert expects the Lions to "move on" from free agent RT Gosder Cherilus.
As does the Detroit Free Press. Cherilus is going on 29, and recovering from another knee procedure. The Lions have three potential replacements in Riley Reiff, Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard. Coming off a strong season, Cherilus will draw interest on the open market provided his knee checks out.

Free agent RT Gosder Cherilus underwent Regenokine therapy in Germany after the season in an effort to solve the knee woes that have plagued him throughout his career.
Cherilus has a microfracture surgery in his past and it will surely affect his free-agent market value. Regenokine incubates a person's blood, then reinjects it into the body. Cherilus is disputing this report, but it was confirmed by two sources to the Detroit Free Press. Don't expect him back with Detroit.

Colts placed RB Donald Brown (ankle) and FB Robert Hughes on season-ending injured reserve.
We suspected a high-ankle sprain after Brown was ruled out so quickly last week. The transaction is welcome news for the workload of Vick Ballard, who faces Houston's stout run defense in two of the next three weeks. The oft-injured Brown has missed multiple games in three of his four seasons with the Colts. While he's likely to be back with the team at a reasonable $1.705 million salary next season, Brown has fallen behind Ballard in the eyes of the organization. His Dynasty value is in the tank.
