Jacob Hester rushed eight times for 11 yards in Denver's Divisional Round loss to the Ravens, adding one catch for seven yards.
Signed off the street on November 26, Hester was a black hole for the Broncos in a win-or-go-home game, but was thrust into a big role after Knowshon Moreno departed with a knee injury. With rookie Ronnie Hillman still incapable of holding his own in pass protection, Hester was in for most every third down. Hester is signed for $715,000 next season, but is far from assured of a roster spot.

Jacob Hester rushed seven times for 20 yards with a touchdown in the Broncos' Week 15 win over the Ravens.
The Broncos lined up for a first-and-goal from the three-inch line in a split-I formation. The handoff went to Hester from the fullback spot and he got in with ease. The versatile lead-blocker will get a few more short-yardage chances against the Browns next week.

Broncos signed RB Jacob Hester.
A long-time Chargers fullback, Hester will be fourth on the totem pole behind Knowshon Moreno, Ronnie Hillman and Lance Ball. Although he could help in pass protection and as a blocker, Hester will likely be limited to special teams on game days for the time being.

In addition to Steve Slaton, the Broncos worked out free agent Jacob Hester this week.
The Denver beat writers seem to believe Hester has a better chance of being signed that Slaton. If the Broncos do sign a veteran back, he's not going to stumble onto fantasy value as the fourth man on the totem pole.

Coach John Fox indicated the Broncos are being intentionally cautious with Knowshon Moreno in his recovery from an offseason stem-cell procedure on his right knee.
The surgery, which is believed to have taken place either in late January or early February, involved the removal of stem cells from Moreno's pelvis. They were then inserted into his right knee. Four months later, he still can't practice. "He's coming along," Fox said. "We're going to be very cautious. When the doctors give him the full-go go-ahead, he'll be doing everything."

Broncos TE Joel Dreessen underwent arthroscopic surgery to "clean up" his knee.
Coach John Fox termed it "just a little knee procedure, scope, done, just to clean it up." Fox added this would be a good opportunity for backup tight end Julius Thomas, who missed most of his first two seasons with injuries, to get quality reps. Dreessen is expected to return for training camp. He is Denver's primary in-line and blocking tight end, ahead of "move" TE Jacob Tamme.
