Titans LCB Jason McCourty expects to play more press coverage in 2013.
"We’ll have a little bit more of an aggressive mentality," McCourty said. "I think part of that for us as cornerbacks will be getting up at the line of scrimmage and pressing, getting our hands on the wide receivers." The Titans got throttled underneath last season, while press coverage is one of de-facto DC Gregg Williams' hallmarks. McCourty graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 6 cornerback in 2012, but the Titans allowed a franchise-record 471 points. Enemy quarterbacks completed 66.3 percent of their passes.

Titans signed LCB Jason McCourty to a five-year, $43 million extension.
The deal includes $20 million in guarantees and bonuses. It's a staggering number for a player who has started just 24 games over three seasons, but McCourty is coming off a breakout year with career-highs in tackles (107), interceptions (two), and pass deflections (13). Although the since departed Cortland Finnegan played at a Pro Bowl level last year, the Nashville Tennessean believes McCourty was "arguably" the defensive MVP. It's now clear that the Titans preferred to lock up the younger of the two corners.

The Titans and CB Jason McCourty have been discussing a contract extension.
McCourty is set to earn $1.26 million in 2012, the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. With Cortland Finnegan now in St. Louis, he'll be counted on as the Titans' No. 1 corner. Talks are expected to continue for the next few weeks.

McCourty was initially scheduled to make $565,000, but set career-highs in tackles (107), interceptions (two), and pass deflections (13) last season. A sixth-round pick in 2009, McCourty projects to start alongside right corner Alterraun Verner next season. ESPN's Adam Schefter insists the Titans will not place the franchise tag on free agent slot corner Cortland Finnegan.

Walter has barely practiced since signing in April, and is starting to hurt his roster chances. At this point, Walter might need Tennessee to renege on its promise of keeping Nate Washington to have a real shot at making the 53-man roster.

Second-round WR Justin Hunter (hamstring) participated in individual drills on the final day of Titans minicamp Wednesday.
It was Hunter's first practice of any kind during OTAs. It puts him on track to be ready for team drills when training camp begins late next month, but he'll be on the spot to prove he can stay on the field after WRs coach Shawn Jefferson questioned his toughness in May. Hunter has the talent to make an impact as a rookie, but the Titans' erratic passing attack could hold him back.

Coach Mike Munchak said KR/WR Marc Mariani (leg) has been "amazing" through spring workouts.
Mariani sustained a compound fracture in his left leg during the preseason last year. He's not 100 percent yet, but appears to be getting close. Mariani holds a career average of 24.8 yards per kickoff return and 11.2 yards per punt return. Darius Reynaud averaged 23.4 yards on kickoff returns and 13.2 yards on punt returns last season, and has since been re-signed to a one-year contract.
