12/30/2011: Signed a six-year, $14.48 million contract. The deal contains $4 million guaranteed, including a $2 million signing bonus and all of Succop's second-year salary. Another $675,000 is available through incentives based on Pro Bowl and playoff appearances. Chiefs signed K Ryan Succop to a five-year, $14 million extension through 2016.
A seventh-round pick out of South Carolina in 2009, Succop has converted 69-of-84 field goals (82.1 percent) so far in his career. This season, he's banged home 10-of-14 tries from 40-plus yards with three field goals of 50-plus. Succop, 25, has struggled for fantasy relevance because of the offense in which he plays. He's been a much better real-life placekicker.

Coach Todd Haley gave struggling K Ryan Succop of vote of confidence following Sunday's loss to the Chargers.
Succop shanked a 38-yarder yesterday and is now 2-of-5 on the season. Despite Haley's public confidence, it might be time for the Chiefs to bring in some free agents.

K Ryan Succop drilled three field goals and an extra point to propel the Chiefs to a Week 2 victory in Cleveland.
The strong-legged kicker provided all the offense with three field goals from inside the red zone when the Chiefs couldn't score an offensive touchdown. Given the inconsistency of the Kansas City offense, there are more reliable bye-week kicking options.

Rookie K Ryan Succop appears to have won the Chiefs' kicking job.
The final pick of the 2009 draft has some serious power in his leg. He's made all three of his field-goal attempts in the last two preseason games and has been strong on kickoffs. He's not a kicker we'd draft, but could be someone to keep an eye on during the season.

Chiefs RB Shaun Draughn is missing OTAs due to a sports hernia.
There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.

The Chiefs thought Moeaki might be ready by now, but predictably, he's not. He does remain on track to be ready for training camp. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, the Chiefs have greased the skids for Moeaki's departure after signing Anthony Fasano and drafting Travis Kelce.
