Police have confirmed that Chiefs LB Jovan Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend and then committed suicide Saturday morning.
Belcher shot his girlfriend at a residence about five miles away from Arrowhead Stadium. The couple's 3-month-old daughter and the girlfriend's mother were also there. Belcher proceeded to drive to Arrowhead, where teammates noticed him distraught in his car. They informed GM Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel, who called police and went to talk to Belcher. Before turning the gun on himself, Belcher thanked Pioli and Crennel for everything they had done for him. He was 25 years old. As of now, Sunday's 1 p.m. ET game between the Chiefs and Panthers at Arrowhead is scheduled to go on as planned.

Citing a source, Jason La Canfora of CBS has identified Jovan Belcher as the Chiefs player involved in the shooting at team facilities.
Reports say Chiefs coaches confronted Belcher in the parking lot before he put the gun to his head and committed suicide. The Kansas City Police Department added that Belcher thanked coach Romeo Crennel and GM Scott Pioli before pulling the trigger, and neither of the Chiefs officials felt threatened with his life.

Chiefs ILB Jovan Belcher (groin) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Belcher was held out of practice on Thursday and was limited on Friday. It's not a huge blow if he doesn't suit up, as the Chiefs expect to deploy a lot of nickel and dime packages against the Falcons high-powered pass attack. A two-down thumper, Belcher comes off the field for a defensive back in the subpackages.

Chiefs signed restricted free agent ILB Jovan Belcher to a one-year, $1.927 million contract.
A run-thumping complement to playmaker Derrick Johnson, Belcher has averaged 85.5 tackles as a starter for Romeo Crennel the past two years. He could be a candidate for a long-term contract, as the Chiefs love his hard-nosed attitude.

Chiefs RB Shaun Draughn is missing OTAs due to a sports hernia.
There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.

The Chiefs thought Moeaki might be ready by now, but predictably, he's not. He does remain on track to be ready for training camp. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, the Chiefs have greased the skids for Moeaki's departure after signing Anthony Fasano and drafting Travis Kelce.
