Coach Gary Kubiak reiterated that he expects a lot more out of Ben Tate this season.
We're fully confident that Tate will be a factor if he can simply stay on the field. He missed five games in 2012 and was nicked in a bunch of others, losing reps to Justin Forsett. Forsett has since signed with the Jaguars, so the path here is clear. The Texans likely want to lessen Arian Foster's load at least slightly after giving him a whopping 371.6 touches per season over the last three years.

Speaking at his season-ending presser, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he needs to see more consistency from Ben Tate in 2013.
"It’s been about staying on the field consistently... [Tate] needs to bounce back next year, and we’re looking for consistency from him as a player and helping us on the field," said Kubiak. Tate missed his entire first year to an ankle injury in 2010, and then battled hamstring and foot injuries this season. He'll play out the final year of his rookie deal in 2013 and should be the No. 2 back behind Arian Foster with Justin Forsett becoming a free agent.

Ben Tate had two rushes for seven yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Tate has been Texans' No. 2 back since returning in Week 14, but doesn't have an offensive role and is only used to spell Arian Foster. He ended up missing five games this year due to injury and was outrushed by Justin Forsett. Tate figures to see few, if any, carries behind Foster in the postseason.

Ben Tate rushed four times for 17 yards in the Texans' Week 16 loss to the Vikings.
Tate only got on the field after Arian Foster left with an irregular heartbeat. He was in the game for a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line, but only got one carry and was stuffed. Foster's issue is not considered serious and the Texans will need to win at Indy in Week 17, so Tate will return to his caddy role.

Speaking at Texans OTAs Monday, coach Gary Kubiak described WR DeVier Posey's Achilles' rehab as "ahead of schedule."
Kubiak did admit Posey is a candidate to open the season on PUP, although that decision will be made at a much later date. A 2012 third-rounder out of Ohio State, Posey will not be counted on for 2013 impact after a slow rookie year.
