The Charlotte Observer considers CB Drayton Florence a "favorite" for a starting job.
This is the same Drayton Florence who was released twice in 2012. He wasn't re-signed by the Lions after missing time with a concussion and forearm injury, and struggling in the 310 snaps he managed to take the field for. Beat writer Joseph Person projects Florence to start opposite Josh Norman, with D.J. Moore and Captain Munnerlyn fighting for snaps in the slot. With only five picks, the Panthers didn't draft a corner. It's not a good situation.

Panthers signed CB Drayton Florence to a one-year contract.
This is the only kind of free agent cap-strapped Carolina can afford. Florence is 32 years old and was released twice last season, first by the Bills and more recently by the Broncos. He finished the season with Detroit, making 19 tackles across eight games. The Panthers are so thin at cornerback that Florence will be in the mix to start. He wouldn't make most other teams' rosters.

Florence appeared in just eight games last year due to forearm and concussion issues. Now 32, he's nothing more than a nickel back even when healthy.

Lions CB Drayton Florence suffered a concussion in Week 11.
It was his first game back after being activated from I.R./designated for return. The Lions play the Texans on Thanksgiving morning, making Florence a long shot to be healthy on a short week. He'll likely target a Week 13 return.

Stewart did some stretching with the team, before moving to the secondary field to ride the stationary bike. The 26-year-old isn't expected to participate much in OTAs or minicamp, but he should be ready to roll for training camp.

Pilares went down during Sunday's win over the Redskins and will need surgery. His second NFL season ends with two catches for 42 yards and nine kickoff returns for 216 yards. Joe Adams figures to carry the load in the return game going forward.
