Jaguars first-rounder Justin Blackmon impressed teammates and coaches during the first two days of OTAs.
"We watched him doing a drill, he looks an absolute stud," said MLB Paul Posluszny, admitting the players were just running around in shorts and tights. Coordinator Bob Bratkowski noted that Blackmon is "ahead of where you think most rookies would be."

Justin Blackmon is practicing at Z receiver and in the slot during Jaguars OTAs.
Jaguars GM Gene Smith stated after the draft that Blackmon's likely position was X receiver, but the coaching staff appears to have a different design. At Z, Blackmon would run more possession routes and use his after-catch ability to soak up yardage. For a player who lacks ideal vertical tools, Z suits Blackmon the best. It's Roddy White's old position in Mike Mularkey's system.

Justin Blackmon returned to practice at Jaguars OTAs Tuesday after missing the last day of rookie camp with a sore right foot.
Blackmon was amused by attention, insisting his sore left foot was purely the result of breaking in new cleats that didn't fit correctly. Though quarterback problems will limit his 2012 statistical projection, Blackmon should be one of the top eight rookies drafted in re-draft leagues this year. Blackmon and St. Louis' Brian Quick have the best chance to emerge as true No. 1 receivers on their respective teams.

Justin Blackmon was held out of the final day of Jaguars rookie minicamp with a sore right foot.
Coach Mike Mularkey characterized Blackmon's injury as "general soreness," and insisted his absence was precautionary. Blackmon gets nine days off before the Jags convene for OTAs. There are no indications the injury is a concern.

Jaguars WR Taylor Price required surgery and had a pin inserted into the stress fracture in his left foot.
He's on crutches at OTAs. Price's injury is going to put him well behind Cecil Shorts, Chastin West, and even Brian Robiskie when training camp kicks off.
