Bucs signed third-round QB Mike Glennon to a four-year contract.
A two-year starter at North Carolina State with a cannon for an arm, the 6'7/225 Glennon makes for an interesting Dynasty stash. Starter Josh Freeman is entering a contract year and has been taking shots from coach Greg Schiano for much of the offseason. If he doesn't take the Bucs to the playoffs this season, Glennon could find himself in the driver's seat for the starter's job come 2014. He drew some comparisons to Joe Flacco during the pre-draft process.

Coach Greg Schiano believes third-round pick Mike Glennon was the best quarterback in the draft, and is "not against" him beating out Josh Freeman for the Bucs' starting job.
"It’s not like we’re looking to find a starter," Schiano claimed after his latest message to Freeman. "But competition is competition. Mike Glennon is a fierce competitor." Schiano also compared Glennon to Joe Flacco, and believes he has "pocket presence, ability to feel the rush and move in the pocket." With the Bucs investing so much in being competitive this season, Freeman is still the favorite for the starting job, but they've made it clear time and again that it will not be handed to him going into the final year of his rookie contract. The cannon-armed Glennon is an intriguing Dynasty-league prospect.

Bucs third-round QB Mike Glennon is expected to dominate preseason snaps.
"We’re going to put a lot of pressure on [Glennon] and see a lot of reps from him in the preseason," GM Mark Dominik promised. "He’s got to play. We may not see as much of Dan Orlovsky or even of Josh Freeman. ... We’re excited about just the little bit we saw from him [during rookie minicamp] in terms of mentally what he could handle." If the coaches follow through on Dominik's plan, Glennon will have the opportunity to create a QB controversy not unlike Russell Wilson in Seattle last year. Glennon, of course, was Wilson's successor at NC State. Wilson was the 75th pick in the 2012 draft. Glennon went 73rd overall.

Bucs coach Greg Schiano clarified that No. 73 pick Mike Glennon is not being viewed as immediate competition for Josh Freeman.
Glennon is more likely to sit and watch as a rookie behind Freeman and Dan Orlovsky, and perhaps push for playing time in 2014. (Both Freeman and Orlovsky have one year left on their contracts.) "I think that’s hard with any rookie quarterback," said Schiano of Glennon playing right away. "It’s going to be a matter of how fast he grasps our system and all those things. And the fact of the matter is, we have a starting quarterback."
