Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised rookie TE Travis Kelce, comparing him to former Giants, Saints and Panthers TE Jeremy Shockey in terms of style of play and potential impact.
Reid plans to make opposing defenses honor Kelce's speed, having him line up in a variety of spots including split out wide. The Chiefs have revealed plenty of two-tight end formations during their offseason program with Kelce and Anthony Fasano both getting looks as receivers. While we're excited for Kelce's long-term prospects, we doubt he makes much of a fantasy impact in 2013.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed No. 63 pick Travis Kelce will compete for the team's starting tight end job.
Kelce is far more talented (and healthy) than Tony Moeaki. His college tape also suggests Kelce is already just as good a blocker as Anthony Fasano. "He’s going to go in there and compete and we’ll see how it all works out," Reid said of Kelce. "He gives you another offensive threat, somebody that the defense will have to honor with his speed and athletic ability. You can move him out as a wide receiver and he’s a legitimate receiver in that spot."

Chiefs selected Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce with the No. 63 overall pick.
Tony Moeaki may want to start packing his bags. Kelce (6-foot-4 7/8, 255) is a sure-handed receiver and flashed dominant in-line blocking ability for the Bearcats, reminiscent of Heath Miller. He lasted this long due to character concerns; Kelce was suspended for the entire 2010 season for reasons thought to be drug-related. Kelce caught 45 balls for 722 yards (16.0 YPR) and eight touchdowns as a senior. At his April 4 Pro Day, Kelce ran 4.62 with a 37-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad jump -- better numbers than both Tyler Eifert and Zach Ertz. A pro-ready blocker, the athletic measurables suggest Kelce could become an elite all-around tight end if his head is on straight. He has an awful lot of long-term fantasy potential.

The New York Daily News believes there's a "strong possibility" the Jets select a tight end on day two, and calls Cincinnati's Travis Kelce a name to watch.
With Jeff Cumberland their current "starter," the Jets have a massive need at tight end. Kelce could be a possibility for the Jets at No. 39 or via a trade down. Stanford's Zach Ertz is probably the best remaining available tight end, but Kelce is a close second.

There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.

Moeaki has already been ruled out for OTAs, and his status for camp remains up in the air. His roster spot won't be guaranteed after the Chiefs drafted third-round pick Travis Kelce and signed Anthony Fasano this offseason. Moeaki is due $1.32 million in 2013, the final year of his rookie contract.
