Coach Mike McCarthy said he views third-year WR Jeff Janis as an "ascending player" who he looks to "take that next step."
"I like to look at Jeff as kind of an ascending Green Bay Packer," McCarthy said. "I look at his years, I think you look for a guy to take a jump in his second year, and clearly, you look at his rookie year, very raw, raw player. He made the 53 on potential, not on performance. ... Great kid, hardworking, very powerful. But there were just a lot of things, when he does them, they’re for the first time. Hopefully we’re out of that phase of his development. I look for Jeff to take that next step." After his blow-up 7-145-2 game in the Divisional Round loss to the Cardinals, it appears McCarthy is finally coming around to the idea of getting Janis more snaps. With Jordy Nelson (knee) coming back, Janis should compete (and beat) Davante Adams for the No. 3 receiver gig. Mar 2 - 10:50 AM
