| C | 1 | David Krejci ActiveDavid Krejci contributed two assists in Boston's 5-2 win over New York in Game 2 Sunday afternoon. He hasn't scored a goal since his hat trick in Game 4 of Round 1 versus Toronto, but he has six helpers in five playoff outings since then. The Bruins lead the Rangers 2-0 in the second-round series and Krejci still leads all skaters in the postseason in scoring with 16 points. May 20 |
Patrice Bergeron ActivePatrice Bergeron's three-game playoff point streak ended Tuesday night in a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers. He posted four shots and finished with a minus-1 rating, but he won 70 percent of his faceoffs. Bergeron has won over 70 percent of his draws in four of his last five outings, which is a remarkable success rate. He has taken 201 faceoffs in the postseason and won 64.2 percent of them, which makes him the best in the league right now. May 22
Chris Kelly ActiveChris Kelly and Daniel Paille had a goal and an assist apiece but their Boston Bruins lost to the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 via a shootout. Neither player has the kind of numbers that indicate that they'll be fantasy relevant on most nights, but Kelly at least showed why he was missed to some degree when he was on the shelf about a week or so ago. Apr 18
Gregory Campbell ActiveGregory Campbell scored twice in Boston's 3-1 victory against the New York Rangers. The Boston Bruins have won their second-round series and will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals. Torey Krug scored a goal and now has four goals and five points in five playoff games. Krug had just three games worth of NHL experience before the 2013 postseason. Nathan Horton, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Tyler Seguin, and Shawn Thornton each registered an assist. Jaromir Jagr had a team-high four shots on goal, but is still searching for his first goal of the playoffs. May 25
Carl Soderberg ActiveCarl Soderberg recorded his first NHL point on Sunday. It was just his second NHL game. He joined the Boston Bruins after scoring 31 goals and 60 points in 54 Swedish Elite League games. Apr 22
Marc Savard I.L.Marc Savard, who is still suffering from concussion-like symptoms, will be in Boston this week and the Bruins will declare him unfit to play. Savard is under contract through 2016-17 at an annual average salary of just a little over $4 million. The Bruins may not have to place him on long-term injured reserve to start the season though. "We've got a lot of flexibility this year," said GM Peter Chiarelli. "Do I suspect we'll use Savard's LTI? It depends. [Owner Jeremy] Jacobs has allowed us to pursue those types of players. He wants to win. I think if we presented a compelling case, I think he'd let us use it." Jan 14
| LW | 1 | Milan Lucic ActiveMilan Lucic got his third goal of the postseason in Boston's Game 2 win over the New York Rangers. He potted the last goal of the contest in a 5-2 victory. Lucic also posted two hits to give him a total of 42 in just nine playoff games. He currently has 10 postseason points. May 20 |
Brad Marchand ActiveBrad Marchand said the Boston Bruins need to make sure they don't let the New York Rangers back in the series. The Bruins were up 3-1 on Toronto only to see the Maple Leafs rally and force Game 7. "We realize we let [Toronto] back in it. We didn't have that killer instinct. ... We want to step up and do the job," Marchand said at Tuesday's morning skate. The Bruins lead the Rangers 2-0 heading into Game 3 tonight. May 21
Daniel Paille ActiveDaniel Paille notched a goal and an assist to lead Boston to a 2-1 Game 3 win over the New York Rangers. He picked up an assist on defenseman Johnny Boychuck's fourth marker of the playoffs and then he supplied the game-winning goal late in the third. The Bruins' fourth line wanted to contribute more offensively and they were the driving force behind Tuesday's victory. Shawn Thornton picked up two assists in the contest and Gregory Campbell had a helper of his own. Milan Lucic recorded five hits and Matt Bartkowski led the team with six. Boston now owns a commanding 3-0 series lead versus the Rangers. May 21
Kaspars Daugavins ActiveKaspars Daugavins will be in the Boston lineup for Game 1 while Rich Peverley is a healthy scratch. Daugavins was skating on the third line in practice this morning alongside Chris Kelly, Jaromir Jagr and Rich Peverley. May 1
Jay Pandolfo ActiveJay Pandolfo replaced Chris Bourque on the third line Thursday night. Pandolfo, who had been primarily a fourth-liner, was a minus-one in 11:42 of ice time. It's very likely this is a short-term thing as the Bruins are shopping for a No. 3 left wing. Mar 8
| RW | 1 | Tyler Seguin ActiveTyler Seguin scored his first goal of the playoffs and added an assist Thursday, however the Bruins dropped a 4-3 overtime decision at Madison Square Garden. The goal was the first in 11 postseason contests for Seguin and his first in 16 games dating back to the regular season. Nathan Horton also registered a goal and an assist in the loss while Torey Krug posted his third tally of the playoffs. May 23 |
Jaromir Jagr ActivePittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma thinks Jaromir Jagr can still play. "He's still a force down low, tough guy to take the puck off of. I don't look at birth certificates." Bylsma said. While Jagr hasn't scored a goal yet, he's created plenty of chances and could break through. May 26
Nathan Horton ActiveNathan Horton's third-period goal triggered the Bruins' improbable rally over the Leafs. Down 4-1 with a little more than 14 minutes left, the Bruins had little energy and they were hearing it from the crowd. But Horton's goal provided a jolt. "It was tough there on the bench, getting booed, and looking at the time clock and watching the seconds count down," said Brad Marchand. ... "After [Horton] got that first one for us that started the climb back, we see the emotion on the bench and guys started to believe. That's what we needed." May 14
Rich Peverley ActiveRich Peverley logged 13:42 of ice time in his return to Boston's lineup Saturday night in Game 2. The Bruins are still waiting to get some offense out of their third line, which has been sore spot for the club all year. The thought was that Jaromir Jagr would help add some scoring punch alongside Peverley and Chris Kelly, but that is yet to happen. Jagr, Peverley, Kelly and Kaspars Daugavins, who played instead of Peverley in Game 1 against Toronto, don't have a point in Boston's first-round series. May 6
Shawn Thornton ActiveShawn Thornton is willing to fight in Game 5. Thornton opted not to fight with Rangers forward Kris Newbury in Game 4 because the Bruins were up 2-0 at the time. Things might turn out differently on Saturday. "If people are taking liberties...these (gloves) aren't sewn onto my sleeves," Thornton said. May 25
| D | 1 | Zdeno Chara ActiveWhile Ryan Suter's 31:37 minutes per game easily tops all players in this postseason, Zdeno Chara is averaging the most ice time among active participants. Chara is logging 29:23 minutes per game, comfortably ahead of Drew Doughty (28:06) and Kris Letang (27:17). With that in mind, the towering Boston Bruins captain would likely welcome the "rust" that may come from a second-round sweep. May 23 |
Dennis Seidenberg ActiveDennis Seidenberg (lower body) will return to the Boston Bruins' lineup on Saturday. Seidenberg was a game-time decision. He hasn't played since Game 7 of the Bruins' first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. As we previously reported, Seidenberg returning to the Bruins' lineup means that Dougie Hamilton will be a healthy scratch. May 25
Dougie Hamilton ActiveDougie Hamilton might be a healthy scratch on Saturday. Dennis Seidenberg (lower body) is a game-time decision, but if Seidenberg can play, then he'll probably be replacing Hamilton. Hamilton has three assists in seven postseason contests. May 25
Andrew Ference SidelinedAndrew Ference (lower body) did some off-ice work Wednesday. He hasn't resumed skating since suffering a lower-body injury in Game 5 against Toronto, but coach Claude Julien said the defenseman is making some progress. May 23
Johnny Boychuk ActiveJohnny Boychuk netted his fourth goal of the playoffs in Tuesday's win over the Rangers. He potted the game-tying goal in the third period of a 2-1 victory. The Bruins have received plenty of offense from the back end in their second-round series versus New York, with five goals coming from defensemen. "It's just a bonus," Boychuk said. "We just want to get shots on net and our forwards are doing a good job of screening (the goalie). Sometimes they'll tip it and it will go in. But we've been hitting the net and it's been going in. We just have to keep doing the same thing." May 22
Adam McQuaid ActiveAdam McQuaid has been named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award goes to the "player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." He underwent two surgeries in September because of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which caused blood clots to form in his neck and shoulder. The ailment was expected to sidelined him for the season, but he returned for the Bruins' regular-season opener once the lockout was settled. May 14
Matt Bartkowski ActiveMatt Bartkowski scored his first NHL goal in the Bruins' Game 7 win. It was the game's first goal, coming at 5:39. Bartkowski, in only his 23rd game, found the net and also had three shots on goal. Bruins coach Claude Julien was happy how his young defensemen, Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton, played. "You have to find a way to give credit to those two young guys on the back end —Hamilton and obviously Bartkowski," Julien said. "Bartkowski was moving the puck and carrying it so well tonight, and he scored a big goal for us. I saw Dougie Hamilton get more and more comfortable as the game went on as far as carrying the puck and making plays. You talk about people coming in, well we were minus three real good veterans in our back end, so that’s half your core, and those guys come in and do a heck of a job. May 14
Torey Krug ActiveDefenseman Torey Krug's debut with the Bruins has been historic in nature. The defenseman set an NHL record for blueliners by scoring four goals in his first five career playoff contests and has been a revelation for a team that has continuously struggled with the man advantage. While he can't keep up the pace he has set, his offensive potential is rather interesting entering next season. May 26
Wade Redden SidelinedWade Redden continues to progress in his recovery from an undisclosed injury. He has been practising with his teammates and may be close to a return to action. We would consider Redden questionable for Game 5 Saturday afternoon. May 25
| G | 1 | Tuukka Rask ActiveBoston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said that it will be easier to re-sign Tuukka Rask after some playoff success. Rask has every motivation to keep piling on the successes. Some think a Stanley Cup will only get him an Antti Niemi-type contract, but Rask has more on his resume. It could end up being an interesting negotiating session. May 26 |
Anton Khudobin ActiveAnton Khudobin was pulled in Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia after he allowed two goals on 16 shots. Tuukka Rask was beaten three times on 14 shots in relief after starting back-to-back games for the Bruins over the weekend. The Bruins have been comfortable starting Khudobin this season and this effort probably won't change that, as he has been a solid backup to Rask. Apr 23
