The Anaheim Ducks aren't putting a lot of stock in the fact that they won the division or their superior seed to their first round opponent, the Calgary Flames.
"Especially the playoffs," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "How many times have you seen a lower seed take out a top seed? Numerous. It happens all the time." There might be some gamesmanship in Carlyle's words as it's common for teams to build their opponent up prior to a series, but the Ducks certainly do have a lot to prove. This is the fifth season in a row that they've won their division, but in many of those previous years they didn't enjoy a lot of success in the playoffs, with the notable exception being in 2015 when they reached the Western Conference Final. Thus they know all too well that regular season success doesn't always lead to deep playoff runs. Apr 11 - 8:51 AM
