After earning a 2-1 overtime win on Tuesday, the Oilers now need to begin their first winning streak of the 2017-18 campaign.
Edmonton struggled out of the gate with a 2-5-1 record. The Oilers have leveled off somewhat by going 3-4-0 over their last seven games, but they need to start actually making up lost ground. "For us to crawl back into this (playoff picture) we can’t be win one, lose one. We can’t play .500. We have to string games together at some point, and the sooner the better," said Oilers head coach Todd McLellan. "We talked to the players about that (Wednesday). We’ve done a lot of repairing and repair means there’s something wrong with your game. We tried to accentuate the positives after the Islanders game, blocking shots like Drake Caggiula and Luch (Milan Lucic). An early save by Cam (Talbot) on (Josh) Bailey 25 seconds in, the penalty kill (three), getting goals on a breakaway (Leon Draisaitl) and the two-on-one with Leon and Connor. We haven’t had many of those." The Oilers are set to play the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. They beat New Jersey 6-3 on Friday. Nov 9 - 5:22 AM
