It is becoming more and more apparent that Seth Jones will be the number one pick in the NHL draft in June.
The story is too good to pass up as Jones learned how to play hockey in Denver when his father Popeye Jones was playing for the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. Popeye asked Joe Sakic of the Avs what he should do to get his kids involved in hockey and Sakic suggested power skating to start. Well the rest is history as Seth is rated the top junior in the World and it looks like Sakic may be the next person in charge of the Avalanche. Jones has an all-round game and his skill on the blueline is unmatched at this time. He was a star at the World Junior Championships at the tender age of 18 when all but the best of players reach their peak at 19 or 20 in the tournament. Grab him if you can in all keeper leagues.

Seth Jones retained the top spot on Central Scouting's final rankings of the top draft-eligible North American skaters for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
The Portland Winterhawks defenseman has been ranked No. 1 since the midterm list was released in January. Halifax Mooseheads forwards Nathan MacKinnon (No. 2) and Jonathan Drouin (No. 3) round out the top three. Sault Ste. Marie blueliner Darnell Nurse (No. 4) and Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67's made the top-five among the best skaters available in North America.

Portland Winterhawks D Seth Jones earned the top spot in NHL Central Scouting's midterm prospect rankings.
Jones, the son of former NBA player Popeye Jones, has been under the spotlight for quite some time. He'll likely contend with No. 2 prospect Nathan MacKinnon for the right to be the No. 1 pick. If Jones is selected with the top overall pick in June, Jones would be the first defenseman to go No. 1 since Erik Johnson in 2006, only the second American to go No. 1 behind Patrick Kane and would be the first African American to be drafted with the top pick.

The United States and Canada will be in the same division for the 2014 World Junior Championship.
The Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia will round out Group A. The other division will consist of Russia, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, and Norway. The tournament will be hosted by Malmo, Sweden.
