Sam Bennett (shoulder surgery) hopes to be cleared to skate in the New Year.
Bennett is enjoying himself in Calgary as it is now a winning atmosphere but would obviously rather be on the ice playing. "It’s been huge," Bennett said Friday. "Just being around the guys, I go into all the meetings, go to the games. It’s huge for my development. Seeing how they act, it’s really good for me. Being here and training, it makes me want to play that much more and ramps up my rehab." Bennett will see his surgeon in the New Year to see if he can start training again. Bennett underwent surgery almost two months ago to anchor a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He should see some game action, be it with the Flames or back in junior, at some point of the season.
