We'll find out soon if Daniel Alfredsson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
The next round of inductees, which will be announced on Monday, will certainly include Teemu Selanne, but Alfredsson is a bit more of a question mark. Alfredsson finished with 444 goals and 1,157 points in 1,246 career games, which are remarkable numbers. That being said, he never won the Stanley Cup, never finished in the top-five in goals or assists and only appeared once in terms of points, which was 2005-06 when he finished fourth with 103 points. That was also the only season he recorded 90 or more points. While he never led the NHL, he was consistently a superb player and he was also the captain of Ottawa from 1999-2013. "Without a doubt, Daniel should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame," Senators GM Pierre Dorion said. "I think for all his accomplishments in the NHL and internationally, being a gold medalist and being one of the game’s best players at a certain time in his career, he definitely meets the criteria to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame."
