Derby County confirm James Wilson has suffered a "significant" knee injury which could rule him out for the rest of 2016/17.
The 20-year-old ended his season-long loan and will return to Manchester United after sustaining what is believed to be damage to his anterior cruciate ligament. Speaking after his arrival at the iPro in August, Wilson revealed it was Jose Mourinho who recommended Derby "as a good club." Teammates Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane also spoke fondly of their time at DE24: "They said I would be making a good decision." After failing to make an impression at Brighton, Wilson was keen to prove his pedigree: "I want to play games, I want to score goals, I want to gain more experience and my focus is entirely on Derby County at the moment." But, Wilson struggled to make an impact, making only four league appearances while his solitary goal came for the U23s against Doncaster in the Checkatrade Trophy. Oct 18 - 6:17 PM
