Liverpool will have plenty of moments to point to in a 1-2 loss to Manchester United that was vital to their Champions League aspirations, but none will be more talked about than Steven Gerrard's red card.
The matchup promised to be one filled with drama and anyone watching got their fill. Manchester United grabbed the opening goal and led 0-1 at the break, but at that point, the match felt like it could have gone either way. Adam Lallana was substituted to begin the second by Gerrard after the former took the worse of a nasty collision with Phil Jones in the opening frame. Gerrard proceeded to spend roughly 30 seconds or so on the pitch before issuing a stamp on Ander Herrera. To make matters worse for Pool and their fans was another incident involving Jones, who delivered another harsh challenge but only saw yellow for it. United then took control by taking a two goal lead. A Daniel Sturridge strike helped the Reds get back in it, but the ten man side could not overcome. Gerrard stands to serve a three match ban, taking a massive bite out of his remaining time to play in a Reds shirt. Mar 22 - 11:52 AM
