Just when we thought the 2009/10 coaching carousel had stopped, Florida coach Urban Meyer's retirement sets it spinning again.  So who are the candidates?
The obvious names that will be tossed around are Mississippi State's Dan Mullen and recently hired Louisville head man Charlie Strong.  Both are ex-coordinators under Meyer at Florida, but have also recently secured their own head coaching gigs, which will be difficult to walk away from.  You can also fire up the Bob Stoops rumor machine as he has Florida ties, but we don't see him leaving Oklahoma.  Utah’s Kyle Whittingham and TCU’s Gary Patterson seem like good fits.  Both have defensive backgrounds and run similar offenses.  At some point someone is going to make a run at Boise State's Chris Peterson, Standord's Jim Harbaugh and Rutger's Greg Schiano. Want a dark horse?  Texas Tech's Mike Leach.  He has no ties to the Florida nor has his name been even mentioned.  But his relationship with the Tech athletic department is not the healthiest and he is a proven big name coach.  One thing is for sure, pay no attention to "(i Sun, Dec 27, 2009 02:45:00 PM
