Alabama junior FB Jalston Fowler is making progress in his comeback from a season-ending knee injury.
Fowler injured his left knee during the Crimson Tide's game against Western Kentucky. The junior was ticketed for a fairly large role in the offense, specifically as a fullback and H-back. Expect the powerful blocker to take on the same role in 2013, when healthy.

As feared, Alabama junior FB Jalston Fowler will miss the remainder of the season with a left knee injury.
Fowler has been a critical part of the Alabama offense thus far, so his presence will be missed. Along with his third-string running back duties, Fowler has been lining up as an H-back and bruising fullback where he has consistently created running lanes. Senior Kelly Johnson may see more snaps in Fowler's absence.

Alabama starting junior FB Jalston Fowler is awaiting the results of an MRI that was performed on his left knee.
Fowler has been an important part of the Crimson Tide's offense thus far, serving as the team's third running back along with H-back and fullback duties. He sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Western Kentucky. The junior rushed for 68 yards in Alabama's opener against Michigan.

Alabama junior Jalston Fowler continues to rotate between TE/H-back and RB during practice.
"Fowler fits the mold of a tight end," senior tight end Michael Williams said. "He's big, he's strong, he has good blocking skills, he can catch the ball out of the backfield." A more likely spot for Fowler is at H-Back, where the Crimson Tide lost Brad Smelley to the NFL. After taking the majority of spring snaps as the team's starter at running back due to Eddie Lacy's toe injury, Fowler likely remains the primary backup at the position but head coach Nick Saban continues to look for ways to get the junior on the field.
