Chiefs selected Auburn OLB Dee Ford with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Ford (6-foot-2, 252) was the SEC's most statistically prolific pass rusher in 2013, tallying 10.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss despite missing the first two games with a left knee sprain. Ford's medical has been something of a concern after he was shut down at the Combine due to a 2011 back operation. He rebounded to run 4.59 at the Tigers' Pro Day with a 10-foot-4 broad jump, 35 1/2-inch vertical, and 29 reps on the bench. Although Ford is smallish for an every-down NFL defender, he will be an instant impact edge rusher. Ford will be a sub-package rusher behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston as a rookie. The Chiefs can cut Hali in 2015 and save $9 million. May 8 - 10:56 PM
