Boise State redshirt senior QB Montell Cozart completed 15-of-19 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 71 yards and a score in a 28-14 victory over New Mexico on Thursday.
Cozart was starting in place of the injured Brett Rypien, and while he wasn't asked to do much, he was efficient in his throws and with his legs in the victory. He didn't have to throw the ball down the field much, but he did find wideout Cedric Wilson for a beautiful 47-yarder down the middle. His first touchdown was a 28-yard draw where he just had to make one man miss to make it 7-0 Broncos in the middle of the first. In the second quarter, he found a wide open Jake Roh in the corner of the back corner of the end zone to make it 14-7 Boise State with 9:47 left in the half. He'd find Roh one more time in the third on a run-pass option where the tight end did all the work and put the game out of reach at 28-7 with 11:55 left in the game. It wasn't flawless, but Cozart did enough to give Boise State some hope if Rypien misses a few more contests. Sep 14 - 11:08 PM
