An NFL general manager said restrictions for NFL scouts on college campuses can hurt prospects, specifically small-school ones.
"It doesn't hurt the top players. What it hurts is the middle-of-the-road players and the down-the-line players," the GM said. "They don't get seen and they might not go to an all-star game or a combine." National Football Scouting president Jeff Foster said schools that have stringent rules on scout access are often the ones that complain about their players' perception. "It doesn't hurt us, it hurts the kid," a scout said. Word has it that Alabama coach Nick Saban has the most wide-open scouting policy in college football, which isn't a big surprise. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn goes the other way. "I think we've got 14 players off last year's team in the NFL right now, and that's more than any team in college football," Malzahn said. "That speaks for itself." Nov 19 - 6:13 PM
