The Gainesville Sun's Robbie Andreu reports that Florida has reinstated senior RB Jordan Scarlett from suspension.
Scarlett (5'11/205) was one of nine players suspended for the 2017 season due to his role in an alleged credit card scam engineered last offseason. Unlike WR Antonio Callaway, who simply declared for the draft this winter rather than stick it out with Florida, Scarlett will try to put in a clean, productive season under HC Dan Mullen in 2018 before he tries his hand at the professional ranks. He'll begin offseason workouts with the team on Wednesday. His place on the depth chart should no longer be considered completely secure -- he'll almost certainly have to prove himself this offseason -- but his is a major reinstatement for the Gators. During a free-and-clear 2016 season, Scarlett rushed for 889 yards (5.0 YPC) and six touchdowns across 13 games played. He'll be competing with Malik Davis (currently rehabbing from a knee injury), Lamical Perine, Adarius Lemons, and incoming four-star RBs Dameon Pierce and Iverson Clement for depth chart positioning this offseason.
