Bengals selected Ohio State DE Sam Hubbard with the No. 77 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Hubbard (6’5/270) made 22 starts for the Buckeyes, compiling 17 sacks with 29.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. PFF College credited Hubbard with 48 QB pressures in 2017, fifth most in this year’s class. Before becoming a star pass rusher for Urban Meyer, Hubbard played safety in high school and at one point committed to play lacrosse at Notre Dame. An underrated athlete despite his 4.96 forty time, Hubbard posted above-par 53rd-percentile SPARQ results in Indy and won with a relentless motor in the Big Ten. He also led all edge defenders in Wonderlic score (35). Long term, Hubbard profiles on the John Simon-Clay Matthews spectrum. Apr 27 - 9:55 PM
