Packers selected North Carolina State SS Josh Jones with the No. 61 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Jones (6’1/220) started all three seasons at N.C. State before turning pro, manning strong safety early on before flipping to free safety as a 2016 junior. He logged seven career tackles for loss, eight interceptions, and two forced fumbles, and led the Wolfpack in tackles (109) last year while allowing zero touchdown passes in coverage. PFF College charted him with 13 missed tackles, however. Jones’ stock skyrocketed at the Combine, blazing 4.41 with a 37 ½-inch vertical, absurd 11-foot broad jump, and 20 reps on the bench. An inconsistent tackler with mouth-watering athletic traits, Jones has boom-bust characteristics as a free-strong safety tweener. Fri, Apr 28, 2017 09:32:00 PM
