Kyle Stanley turned in a 4-under-par 33-35=68 in the third round of THE PLAYERS, improving to 5-under 211 for the tournament.
Two weeks ago, Stanley scored his first top 10 since his 2012 win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and followed it up with another at Quail Hollow last week. While he'll likely enter the final round several strokes outside the top 10 at TPC Sawgrass, it's clear that the form that had golf fans drooling in early 2012 is back. He circled five birdies to just one bogey during today's round. His highlight was a bounce-back birdie at the par-4 15th, when he stuck his approach to 1'10" and converted. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that he wasn't able to draw blood on any of the par 5s.

Kyle Stanley was in the first group off in the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship and posted a 4-under-par 33-35=68.
Stanley found his first top 10 since his 2012 win in last week's trip to New Orleans, and he has continued to ride the wave of momentum at Quail Hollow this week. He got on the board early with two birdies and an eagle in his first seven holes. The eagle came when he stuck an approach from a fairway bunker on the par-5 seventh to 5'2" and converted. He dropped his first shot of three shots at the eighth and traded birdies and bogeys several times on the back nine. He ended his round with a 3'5" birdie on the difficult par-4 18th. It isn't likely that his 5-under 283 will do any better than a top 10, but if the weather worsens who knows where it will end up. He'll dry off and head to TPC Sawgrass for THE PLAYERS.

Kyle Stanley found himself in contention for the first time since his 2012 win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and responded with a bogey-free final-round 5-under-par 35-32=67 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Stanley's 17-under 271 was good for third place, and marks the first time he's picked up a top 15 since the aforementioned WMPO win. It's been a long time coming for a guy that was expected to be a contender almost any time he teed it up, and playing his final eight holes at TPC Louisiana in 4-under could be the spark he needs to get his year going. Though he's battled the putter all season, he managed to convert a 17'9" attempt on the par-3 14th when it mattered. He now heads to Quail Hollow with confidence high on a course where his length and ball-striking prowess could be a huge advantage.

Kyle Stanley vaulted into contention at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a 7-under-par 32-33=65 in the third round, giving him a share of the clubhouse lead at 12-under 204.
Stanley has been noticeably absent from championship contention since his win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open early in 2012, with a 184th ranking in strokes gained-putting the biggest reason as to why. In today's round, a chip-in eagle from 11 yards on the par-5 second and a 12'6" birdie on the third got him off and running and he hardly looked back. In all, he circled an eagle and six birdies to just one bogey on a day where the winds increased as the afternoon wore on, with three of his red numbers dropping from outside 10 feet. He will try and claim his second win, and first top 15 of the 2013 season in Sunday's final round.
